Four month old chocolate Labradoodle demonstrates heartbreaking side of rescue

At the Pet Pack Rescue Initiative, located in the central part of Illinois, we are introduced to the terribly frightened and painfully shy Cora. She is only four-months–old, and her story is nothing less than heartbreaking.

Cora is just one of a litter of puppies received from a local shelter. There is no back history on them, however it sounds as if they were just neglected. They were not necessarily abused; more than likely the puppies were never socialized.

They are scared, and Pet Pack Rescue Initiative agreed to help.

Cora pooped 5 times and peed all over our office in fear. Her foster mom noted that she pooped all over the front of her Jeep on the way home.

Cora does perk up when she sees other dogs, but she is terrified of humans. No one knows how she spent the first four months of her life. It’s very difficult to imagine a puppy being so terrified that she repeatedly tries to make herself as small as possible and hide in a corner as if she could disappear.

Cora has been placed with a very patient and kind foster who set Cora up in a large kennel with a soft blanket and high value, delicious food. The foster mom, Kim, has helped several puppies like Cora and works with them – never giving up.

Cora is in a very safe space where she will be receiving the love and care she needs, and within a few weeks, she will be a different puppy after benefitting from lots of tender love, patience and quality care.

Please keep Cora in your thoughts as her foster mom works with her to help her learn that she is worth love and care. The world around us is scary enough, we can at least help this sweet girl feel loved!

The Pet Pack Rescue Initiative (PPRI) is a resource group for dog fosters from various local rescues and animal controls. PPRI fosters collaboration and cooperation between all stakeholders in animal welfare. Their motto is to support fosters and save lives.

We will be checking back for updates on Cora. Please keep her in your thoughts.
