In Cobb County, Georgia, a small dog and his owner were left traumatized after a coyote snatched the pooch from his backyard and took off with him in its mouth.

On Wednesday, Marie Uden opened the back door of her home to let her poodle mix, Teddy into the yard. Just moments later, she heard a ruckus outside and Teddy screaming. Uden knew something was very wrong. She rushed out to see her dog being carried off by a coyote.
Fortunately, it was Teddy’s lucky day. If a dog has anywhere near the number of lives attributed to cats, Teddy definitely used one of them. Suddenly she heard Teddy barking from the other side of her fence, just a short distance from her home. The coyote had dropped the dog!
In a panic, Uden started yelling, afraid Teddy was going to get hit by a car. That’s when a Good Samaritan stopped in the middle of the road and scooped the dog up placing Teddy safely in her truck.
Teddy wasn’t injured.
Pet owners are being cautioned to be more alert and to make sure pets are always supervised and leashed. It is now mating season for coyotes, and because they have lost so much of their natural habitats, they have been traveling to more densely populated areas.
Coyotes are wild animals, and they deserve to live. Let’s try and leave them alone, and at the same time, protect our pets. It can be done – just takes being more alert.
