California woman struck by car after chasing her dog on busy interstate

In Rockcastle County, Kentucky, a woman from California died after she was struck by a car on an interstate while chasing her dog after it escaped from her vehicle.

Morabia Siddhi Suresh, 33, of Fremont, California was struck by a vehicle on I-75 on June 9. She had exited her car after her dog escaped following a separate crash. It was reported she started running into the traffic lane while attempting to catch her dog.

According to Kentucky State Police, Suresh entered the travel portion of the roadway into the path of a Chevrolet Malibu that collided with Suresh.

Suresh was taken to a hospital where she later died from her injuries. According to reports from the Kentucky State Police, the dog was also struck by a vehicle on the interstate and died.

Officials say drugs or alcohol are not believed to be a factor in the collision.

An investigation continues.
