Video of man rescuing baby bird from storm drain to reunite with its mother goes viral

A kind man and his friend rescued a baby bird that got trapped in a storm drain; and then were able to reunite it with its mother last Friday. Lukman Nurudeen, 36, and his friend Talwo Mudah, 33, from Louisville, Kentucky’s video of the awesome rescue quickly went viral.

The two men had been walking towards their apartment in a nearby complex when they heard a bird crying frantically near a storm drain. The men spotted the mother bird “pacing back and forth” near the drain and figured she must have had an interest in what was inside of that drain. And as the men approached, they knelt down and saw the tiny baby bird at the bottom.

Nurudeen is an animal lover, and the sounds of the desperate baby bird struck his heart deeply – so deeply he could not walk away and felt obligated by his conscience to help.

it was struggling, and we were there. That was enough reason.

Nurudeen lifted the drain grate and carefully climbed into the drain. He scooped up the baby bird very carefully, climbed out and placed the tiny one on the street. The men moved away and watched the baby reunite with its mother as she snuggled on top of it.

To Nurudeen, he hadn’t done anything spectacular except to help a tiny bird who needed a kind hand.

The video, posted on TikTok has garnered more than 5.6 million views with the sweetest comments. It’s interesting why Nurudeen said he videoed the incident. As the men were walking home and came upon the birds needing help and making sure the baby bird was safe, they decided to video the entire event, just in case someone reported them for lifting the drain cover and trying to do something illegal or suspicious.

Sometimes it seems it’s difficult to be a Good Samaritan.

While walking with a friend around 10 p.m., we heard a bird crying near a drain. At first, it just sounded like noise, but it didn’t stop. Then the bird flew toward us and back to the drain, still crying. Something about the way it moved made me stop. It felt like it was trying to get our attention. We walked over and looked into the drain and there it was. A baby bird had tallen inside. For a moment, we didn’t know what to do. Should we call 911? or Was it okay to lift the cover ourselves? But the cries kept going, and it didn’t feel right to just walk away. So we took the risk. We lifted the cover and we reached down to pick up the baby bird. We set it down gently near its mother. She didn’t fly off. She just stayed close to it. And something in the way she stood there quiet now, almost still felt like a kind of peace. Like she was saying thank you. In that moment, I felt something real. A mother’s love is the same in every living thing loud, strong, and full of fight. And tonight, I’m just glad we listened. We did something that mattered, and it feels good. I’m proud of us ✌️#alllivesmatter #tiktok #bird #birds #viral #daily #kentucky
