The Humane Society of Southwest Missouri had been worried about a small dog who ran away shortly after having been adopted from the shelter. On January 26, a poster with multiple photos of a small white terrier named Little Winter had been circulating in Champaign, Illinois.
A $1,500 reward was offered for her safe return with no questions asked:

it has come to our attention that a dog that was adopted from our shelter is now lost. Little Winter is a 2 year old Terrier mix that went missing in the area of Champaign, IL. She is spayed and microchipped. We are doing everything in our power to find little winter safe and sound.
Who can explain “miracles” but when such wonderful turn of events occur, our hearts sing. Just this week, Animal Control in Champaign responded to a call that a dog was on a balcony of an abandoned building. Yes, that dog was Little Winter!
She was found with an old sleeping bag and a bowl of spaghetti nearby. No one will ever know, but our guess is that a homeless person may have found her and shared what little they had to try and keep her alive.
Little Winter was brought back to the rescue organization and checked out by a veterinarian. The staff thought her being adopted locally would offer the best future for the dog. Upon her return to the shelter, she enjoyed cuddling and showed how happy she was to be with familiar faces.

A long-time volunteer offered to help Little Winter anyway she could and decided Little Winter would make an excellent addition to her family.
Everyone is happy to announce – Little Winter is home.
