In Cincinnati, Ohio, two employees of a concrete company in West Price Hill found eight newborn puppies sealed in a trash bag and abandoned in a dumpster. It had been on Thursday morning when the two men heard tiny squeaking sounds emanating from the bag; moments later they discovered the tiny puppies estimated to have been not more than a day old.

Tragically, one of the puppies had already died; they had been wrapped in a blood soaked blanket.
Their heroes gently placed the puppies in a cooler to keep them safe while transporting them for help.
My son, Marcus Amber Meece, is the man who found these puppies along with his partner. I’m so thankful he was paying attention and heard them…
The workers rushed the puppies to Cincinnati Animal CARE where a medical team awaited their arrival. The seven surviving puppies have been given medical care. With puppies that young, there is always a chance of hypothermia, hypoglycemia and infections.

.
They are now in the neonatal room and have been placed in foster homes for experienced care.
This is the reality of open-intake, county animal sheltering. It’s devastating, but it’s also why Cincinnati Animal CARE exists —to give the most vulnerable a chance at life.
Foster homes are always needed. If you can not foster, please consider donating supplies to the most vulnerable pets in the shelter’s care.
When the puppies are old enough, they will be up for adoption.
