It has been more than a year since Dogs Trust in the United Kingdom met Lola Lou after she was discovered inside of an abandoned apartment. The 9-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier mix had been left alone for five days by her former owner’s family with barely any food and no water.
She waited by the door in the dark kitchen wondering if anyone would return.

A truly heartless message had been left next to a few pieces of old furniture, discarded dishes and magazines. The realtor who discovered Lola Lou broke down in tears.
Everything in this flat I no longer want.
And now, since July 22, 2024, almost 500 days later, Lola Lou is still waiting to be adopted. She loves human contact and will roll over on her back for those special belly rubs. And although she does suffer from separation anxiety, which is understandable after such a traumatic experience, she has made great strides at her foster home.

The team is trying again to share her story through social media, and the November 6 Facebook post quickly garnered lots of attention. As of Friday, she is still available for adoption.

Lola Lou’s advocates are not giving up. They know her perfect person is out there — maybe they just haven’t reached them yet.
Please share her story far and wide.
