In Delaware County, Pennsylvania, the community has joined together to help find a red fox needing help. The first sighting had been on October 1, he walked near the opening of chicken coop with a plastic piping around his neck.
The owner of the farm posted the following on social media asking for help:

The fox was spotted several times since then and has been staying in the same area. On October 20, Good Boy Dog Recovery learned of the fox in need and offered their help via a post on Facebook. The organization which specializes in finding lost dogs have nicknamed the fox Sly.

Sly’s story has gone viral, and there have since been feeding stations and humane traps distributed in the entire area; all hoping to capture the furry celebrity. Pocono Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center has been in contact with local rescuers, and once the fox is trapped, the wildlife center will attend to its medical care if needed to remove the cuff around its neck and then release him back into the wild.
It’s very important to capture the fox and remove the pipe collar before winter. Even though he does seem healthy and at a good weight, full movement of his neck has been compromised which becomes more important during the cold winter months having to hunt and survive.
Anyone who sees the fox should call 484-485-0706. Do not approach it. Take a picture, report where you saw it and the time, and let the expert trackers do what they do best.
