What a happy ending for one abandoned scruffy little dog who was found wandering the halls of the College of Engineering building at Temple University a month ago.
According to Temple University News, Temple Police Sergeant David Ramos was given a cardboard box holding a small scruffy pup who looked like he needed a bath, haircut and probably some loving care. The officer took the dog to Animal Care & Control Team Philly (ACCT) to check for a microchip or to inquire if anyone had reported their dog missing. No one responded, and the shelter neutered the dog and administered his vaccinations.
Sergeant Ramos just couldn’t forget about the adorable little mop headed pooch and called the shelter to ask about adopting him. Since the pup was still on his mandatory hold period, Ramos would have to wait, but two days later, the shelter called – the pup now named Philly, was ready to be adopted.
Philly is now a cherished member of the officer’s family along with his wife, three daughters and their other dog, Mowgli.
And now Philly is living the life. Officer Ramos is well respected; Temple Police Chief and Vice President for Public Safety Jennifer Griffin had this to report:
Officer Ramos has been a top-notch police officer, and is a field training officer also known as a coach to new police officers. He is often seen engaging with our students and community at a variety of events. We look forward to seeing him continue his engagement efforts in his new role as a sergeant.
While the dog, Philly, got off to a difficult start in life, there is no doubt that Officer Ramos and his family will do all that they can to ensure the rest of his life is full of love and scratches.
Live a great life Philly; you are one lucky pooch.
