Dog on morning walk stopped at box filled with treats in memory of dog that passed brings woman to tears

In Orange County, California, a dog on his morning walk stopped in front of a home to check out the blue box hanging on a post. His owner didn’t understand why her dog sat down in front of the box, but the dog was adamant to check out what was inside of it.

(A clue perhaps here – a dog’s sense of smell is known to be 10,000 to 100,000 times more acute than a human’s.)

So let’s continue the story. The dog was so right; the box contained dog treats, and there was a message about the treats, and why they were there. The message and short video clip went viral on @danikacierra’s TikTok page, garnering thousands of views and comments; some tearful reminders of pets who have passed and still very much loved and remembered.

The plaque on the side of the box read:

Good boy biscuit box in loving memory of oliver 2023.

TikTok

And as the tears welled up in Danika’s eyes at 7:00 in the morning, there was also a photo of the white dog, Oliver, looking so happy and obviously so loved.

Everyday the dog wants to go back to the treat box on his early morning walk, and now the dog’s mom enjoys saying hello as well as planning to create a GoFundMe to raise donations to keep the treat box filled for other dogs in the area. (We know their noses will likely lead them there!)

Rest in peace Oliver. You were loved.

  1. What a lovely thing to do!!! When we lose a member of our Menagerie, we adopt a new member in their honor (we adopt older dogs cats, and horses, who are often “special needs”, so our Menagerie members change frequently).

Oliver, I know you are in Heaven. Please look for MacKitty and join his wonderful snuggle buddies group. RIP amongst loving friends furever.
