The Los Angeles Police Department reunited an 11-year-old dog with his owner after a brutal attack in a North Hollywood 7-Eleven on Thursday.

According to AbcNews, the attack occurred on Tuesday morning when a surveillance video showed two people, a man and a woman, attack the owner and tried to steal the woman’s dog named Drake. The couple grabbed the dog’s leash, and the male suspect walked out the door of the store, while his accomplice kicked and repeatedly struck the owner, and then left the store to join the man.

After a two day search, police found Drake and reunited him with his owner. The 11-year-old Rhodesian Ridgeback and pit bull mix had been abandoned at a sober living home in Orange County, California after arriving there days after he was stolen.

Staff at the home were shocked when they recognized the dog during a news report of a violent theft taking place inside a 7-Eleven store. It seems the suspects who stole Drake from the shop had been the same couple who had abandoned the dog at the facility.

The female suspect has since been arrested; authorities continue to search for her accomplice. He was last seen wearing a black and white sweater, blue jeans and black shoes.

Orange County Sheriff’s Department coordinated with the Los Angeles Police Department to arrange the reunion.

Anyone with information about the incident should contact the LAPD at (818)754-8424 or provide anonymous information to Crime Stoppers at (800)222-TIPS.
