After years of being a caretaker and companion to our furry friends who have undoubtedly provided us with unconditional love and emotional support, humans are still taxed with the life and death decisions about their final moments. Tragically, there comes a time when we have no choice, but to decide it is the time to end our pet’s suffering.

And how do we do this? It’s never easy, but Michelle Wilson, who lives in Northampton, England, wanted to give her 13-year-old pug, Teddy, his favorite treat – a Mars candy bar as part of his final bucket list.

According to Newsweek, Teddy had been living with bronchitis during his final year, and although medication had been helping, ” he sadly caught kennel cough and wasn’t strong enough to fight it off.” When she took Teddy to the veterinarian, he told her the dog’s prognosis was poor and that Teddy was suffering. He also told her to “spend one last day with him.”

Of course, dog owners know that chocolate isn’t a compatible treat for dogs because of its theobromine content which dogs are not able to metabolize, but Teddy’s last day was to be extra special. It had to have been a very hard day for Michelle, but she fought through the emotional pain in order to appear to be that calm, protective, loving and special treat mom for Teddy’s final hours.

I remembered i had some Celebrations and there was a mini Mars bar in there, so i filmed him having it and he loved it. I have only just been able to watch the video back recently. I have more to watch from his last day but still don’t feel strong enough to watch them.

he loved his Mars bar so much. I have a special keepsake teddy bear with a secret zip in the back, and I’ve got a couple of special things from Teddy in there, including some of his fur and the Mars wrapper.

Then came a ride to his favorite park in his stroller, and on the way home a stop at McDonalds. Sadly, there wasn’t enough (nor would there ever have been enough) cuddle time with Teddy; he was too uncomfortable and had been having a terrible time catching his breath)

Later that day, Teddy went back to the veterinarian.

The TikTok video posted late last week on the five-month anniversary of Teddy’s death, has garnered more than 3.5 million views.
