On Monday evening, the Okeechobee County Fire Rescue responded to a reported dog in need of immediate rescue. When they arrived, the crew discovered the small dog had been trapped by dirt and water, about 50 feet into a 100-foot-long culvert.
Using shovels, the firemen dug into the culvert and were able to then use a special piece of equipment – a Sawzaw – which enabled the men to cut into the culvert.
The work took awhile, but at the end, the dog was able to be rescued and appeared to have been quite thankful to his rescuers. He was returned to his owners.
