At the Niagara SPCA in Niagara Falls, New York, Ralphie waits for a home. He is 26-pounds, black and white and pretty darn adorable, but there’s more to this little guy than meets the eye.

Let’s tell you more about Ralphie before making up your mind if you think the best pups come in small packages.

At first glance, he’s an adorable highly sought after, young dog. People should be banging down our doors for him. We promise you that won’t be the case. Ralphie is a terror in a somewhat small package.

Still wondering what’s what with this adorable little chunky pal? According to the rescue organization, everything belongs to Ralphie, and if you dare challenge him, his wrath will ensue. It seems as if the staff has spoken, and even though they are quite adept at composing positive stories about the ones needing home, the good points about Ralphie seem to be few and far between. It’s as if Ralphie’s cuteness in the past rewarded him – too cute perhaps to have ever been disciplined, and that all led to the “fire-breathing demon” they all see today.

His first owners took him to board and train, but their relationship was built on the premise that Ralphie was the boss so things ended abruplty. Ralphie was rehomed, but two weeks into his new home he was surrendered back to the shelter because those owners said ‘Ralphie annoys our older dog.'”

Be warned, the shelter staff also thinks it important to remind potential adopters that ankles might very well be in the no boundaries zone for this boy too.

Still interested? Ralphie would probably be best and happiest in an all adult home and of course being the only pet! The new mom or dad will have to be very patient, calm and not put up with his temper tantrums and his rude behavior.

While we’ve used humor to help make his behaviors more palatable for public consumption, his behaviors are no joke. His only saving grace is he is small and has some obedience training. He really needs a no nonsense owner. Otherwise, there may be no hope for him. That’s why we’re being super picky about his adopter. If you’ve called and have children or other dogs, you will not be considered for adoption. If you tell us this in a message, we will not return your phone call. We would hope that no one would be dishonest about their household circumstances just to adopt him- that will not end well for you and it will be an incredible disservice to Ralphie.

Children and other pets are not only potential targets for him, but also provide less one-on-one time for his training and that’s why we have drawn a hard line there.

He 100% is a full jerk, but we believe he has potential to be a good boy- if only a percentage of the time
