At the Ecola State Park in Clatsop County, Oregon, the United States Coast Guard rescued a German shepherd who fell 300 feet down to a remote section of the beach.

The dog had tried to climb to higher ground however the waves precluded her from successfully jumping towards safety.

According to the U.S. Coast Guard, a helicopter crew was able to reach the dog and hoist her back up to her owner later that evening on June 15 when the incident occurred. The agency had received the request for help from the Cannon Beach Fire Department to reach the dog which is only accessible by rappelling down from the hiking trail.

When the crew arrived, they were able to reunite the dog with his owner. It is not known how the accident happened, but the good news – the dog was not seriously injured.
