In recent days, a two-year-old Jack Russell terrier named Patron has been called a hero from dog lovers all over the world. Patron seems to be an expert at sniffing out Russian land mines in Ukraine.

When a photo of Patron (which translates to Bullet in English) initially appeared on social media site Reddit, @r/dogswithjobs, his story quickly went viral. His photo showed him in a Ukrainian military vest, waiting in front of a Russian mine that had been planted slightly under the ground.

According to the Daily Star, Imgur, another popular social media site, posted that Patron is two-years-old and “likes cheese and finding Russian land mines near Chernihiv.

Mine sniffing dogs have been used since WWII, and have recently become more popular globally. Patron is said to have defused nearly 90 explosive devices. Is it no wonder Patron is being hailed as a hero?

A viral video shows Patron with his task force:

News from the Patron! Our military dog – the talisman of the Chernihiv pyrotechnicians continues to wear the service! Since the Ukraine conflict escalated, he and the SES engineers have clearly nearly 90 explosive devices. Thank you my friend for your tireless hard work.
