New York – On Friday, the SPCA Serving Erie County reached out to the public for help with an animal cruelty case involving a severely injured dog. According to the animal welfare agency, the dog was abandoned on Saint Joseph Avenue near West Shore and Fay Street in the city of Buffalo. According to the initial post, the dog was taken to a veterinarian for emergency care – her condition was described as critical.

On Saturday, the shelter updated Facebook followers about the dog, who has been dubbed Faye:

Yesterday we posted a photo of a severely injured dog left abandoned on Saint Joseph Avenue near West Shore and Fay Street in the city of Buffalo. FAYE is still in critical condition at Veterinary Emergency Clinic, but survived her surgery.
This afternoon, Fay managed to wag her tail and was even able to eat a bit. The staff at the clinic tell us she is on heavy pain medication, and there is still no certainty as to whether she will survive.

Faye lost a leg and it is unknown if she will survive, but she is currently in good hands and receiving the best care possible. Donations for her care are being accepted at this link.

If you recognize this dog, or know who the owners are, please contact Officers Wood or Maleskis at 716-875-7360 ext. 214.
