Update 3/28/2022: According to SAPA Urgents and Adoptables, Natalie has been rescued by an approved rescue partner. CAMO Rescue is reported to be the group that pulled Natalie from the shelter.
A mother and her litter of puppies ended up at the San Antonio Animal Care Services facility in Texas and all of the puppies were rescued, leaving their mom, Natalie, at risk of being put down. It happens more often than one would like to imagine…highly adoptable puppies are adopted or rescued, but their older (presumably less desirable) mother gets left behind.
Natalie was “due out” of the facility on March 17 – which means that her “safe” holding period has expired. Now, she could be put down at any time if space constraints become an issue.
The Saving San Antonio Dogs Facebook page said, “SENT TO BE KILLED NOW🚨🆘🆘 NEEDS URGENT PLACEMENT, 632230 Natalie is a female who is around 3 years old and weighs about 45-50 lbs. TO RESCUE OR FOSTER Please Email: [email protected]”
Natalie is just three years of age – she should have years ahead of her. Years to snuggle, chase balls, go for walks, car rides, and more – but those years may not be possible if nobody steps forward to save her life. I have ZERO respect for rescues that do this. Take the cute puppies that will make them money and leave the mother behind to die in a kill shelter. It just makes me sick the cruelty of some rescues. They do he same with the cats, take the kittens and leave mom behind to be euthanized. I do not see them as rescues but puppy and kitten flippers.
Happens here all the time too. My rescue takes the ones left behind. Those others are puppy flippers
I was told it is due to Puppy flipper rescues, BUT the rescues are suppose to be approved by SAPA. Few days ago a black mouth cur had her puppies rescued, AND mom left behind. We cant even do a public record request to find out the name of the evil rescue taking puppies. this is bad news for the moms.
THIS IS BEYOND CRUEL AND HEARTLESS! PLEASE DON’T LET THEM KILL THIS DEAR SWEET MOM!
Who does such a cruel thing? They best not be calling themselves a rescue because they fell way short in that department. Shame on them!
