Last week, a cat was rescued from alongside a road in North Pickering, Ontario. Someone had dumped the cat in the snow, alongside a road, with all of his belongings. The cruel abandonment was detailed by the City of Pickering, who reached out to the public for assistance in the case.

In a release, the city stated that the cat was discovered by operations staff around 8 a.m. on the morning of March 16. The cat, and the dumped belongings, were discovered near Concession 7 and Brock Road.

The city detailed the cruelty of the situation, writing, “Abandoning an animal like this is extremely neglectful, as they are left to fend for themselves against coyotes, vehicular traffic, and the weather.”

Lindsey Narraway, Supervisor, Animal Services, added, “If you are looking to rehome your pet, please bring them into the shelter. We will ensure they are kept safe and taken care of, giving them the best chance at finding a new home.”

The cat is safe and will be cared for at the shelter until his forever home can be found. Anyone with information about this abandonment is asked to call Animal Services at 905-427-0093.
