A viral clip of a blind and deaf dog’s heartfelt reaction to his owner returning home has just melted our hearts. On an oh so sweet video posted on TikTok by user @blackwings_wolf, the dog Jasper had been asleep so his owner decided to see exactly how the dog’s senses were.
Amazingly, even though Jasper’s hearing and sight have been affected, he knew, but it took a little time. Normally his owner whistled when he came in the door, but this time, as you can see from his owner’s feet on the kitchen floor, it took a few moments for Jasper to become acclimated after his nap, but after a bit of just doggone investigation, Jasper knew his owner was home.
We know Jasper knew because that tail of his happily wagging is the giveaway!
When his owner whistled, Jasper doesn’t seem to hear it, and our hearts break a little more, but as his owner approached him and gave him a hug, it became the best part of our day too.

Some of the comments after viewing the video included experiences other pet owners have had with their blind and deaf dogs. And our advice? Make allowances for them, help them feel secure and give them lots of love. We don’t deserve dogs do we?
