In Alhambra, California, an awesome K-9 officer took the lead when he helped to track down 50,000 fentanyl pills hidden in a fire extinguisher during a traffic stop by the Alhambra Police Department.

According to the police department’s Facebook page, the officers had been conducting the traffic stop on Thursday, when they found the fire extinguisher in the driver’s vehicle. K-9 Otis was brought to the vehicle and sniffed out the pills.

In June, a traffic stop in Prescott, Arizona by the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office deputies resulted in the discovery of three fire extinguishers stuffed with 56,000 fentanyl pills. In that seizure and subsequent arrest of the person driving, it was K9 Maximus who alerted the deputy to the odor of drugs, who then opened the fire extinguishers.

The driver has been charged with possession of narcotics for sale and distribution.
