For more than two weeks, residents in Shanghai, China, have been subjected to strict lockdowns to help control the spread of Covid-19. People locked in their high-rise apartments can be heard screaming about a lack of food, and some are so distraught that they are committing suicide by jumping from balconies high above the ground, reports the New York Post. It is unclear why China is striving for zero Covid, but they are continuing to push for this unicorn goal, despite the cost to peoples’ livelihoods and sanity.

Pet lovers who utilize Twitter have seen shocking photos and videos which appear to indicate that cats and dogs belonging to covid positive residents are being rounded up and killed.

As the majority of the world has moved forward, adopting a “live with the virus” attitude, China seems to be becoming more restrictive with each passing day. Aside from the chilling videos on Twitter, there seems to be little said in the media about the atrocities that are happening.
