A woman in Charleston, West Virginia, is accused of moving out of her house and leaving her pets behind. According to WSAZ News, the woman, identified as Amanda Marie Case, moved in with her boyfriend in St. Albans, leaving two dogs and a cat behind.
By the time the animals were found, the cat had died and the dogs were extremely malnourished. Humane officers that responded to the house in the 1500 block of 1st Avenue describe conditions at the residence as “deplorable.” Case claimed that she had neighbors feeding her pets, but humane officers found out that wasn’t true.
In the criminal complaint, a Kanawha-Charleston Humane Association worker stated that:
“this was one of the worst cases of starvation she’s seen in her career.”
Case was booked into the South Central Regional Jail on three counts of animal cruelty. The dogs are being held until the investigation is complete – they will likely be put up for adoption at that point in time.
