Louie is an American bull terrier who is seven-years-old and currently lives in the San Bernardino area of California. Louie has to have one of the saddest stories we have ever heard; his devoted human had been with Louie since he was a young puppy. Later Louie became his emotional support dog; the two were always together.
The dog’s owner lived in a Section 8 housing development and when authorities told him he had to get rid of Louie, the man instead moved out and found a small house with a backyard. Tragically, Louie’s human died recently, and for 15 days the loyal dog guarded the remains of his beloved human companion.
And even sadder – every night Louie still cuddles up next to his owner’s ashes.
The following letter was sent by the deceased man’s sister this week to the Kris Kelly Foundation pleading for help saving Louie:
“My brother died & had an American Bull Terrier named Louie. We live in a condo & he is aggressive towards other dogs. We have a small maltipoo so he has to be crated a lot.
He is 7 years old, neutered, has all his shots, loves people and was my brother’s emotional support dog. Can you please help me?”

Tentative arrangements have been made to send Louie to the San Bernardino Shelter, however the woman caring for him agreed to care for the dog for another day or two. Can someone provide a foster home for this boy? Are there any rescues that have room to help? Knowing about the breed is very important to ensure Louie’s success in a new home.
