A deluge of intakes has one animal shelter in Texas sounding the alarm. On Thursday, the Palm Valley Animal Society posted images showing dogs and cats being held in portable kennels, as the facility struggles to find room. The shelter writes:
This is PVAS today. In fact, it’s PVAS for the last three months. We use these portable crates to put animals in while we try and make space to for all the intakes we have coming into the shelter.
With a plea for help before they lose their “no kill” status:
If we had an alarm loud enough for the community to hear, we would be setting it off now. For the last year, we’ve been happy to say that we are saving more than 90% of the animals in our shelter, making us a no-kill shelter. At current rates of intake, we will be under the no-kill threshold for the year in the next few weeks.

If you’ve lost a pet, please come down to the shelter to see if it is here. In just the last 7 days, we’ve had almost 300 strays come into our facility!
If you are thinking of adoption or fostering, please do it now! Until July 11, we’re partnering with BISSELL Pet Foundation for the Empty the Shelters event–all fees are waived on adoptions!
