Utah’s Salt Lake County Ice Center created a snow bank especially for a terminally ill dog named Maggie. This week the Utah office posted the heartbreaking request on social media.

“WARNING: Tearjerker! This weekend, a resident contacted our Salt Lake County Ice Center seeking a little snow for their dying dog, Maggie to play in one last time.

‘Does anyone have a shaved ice machine they have put away for the season? Our sweet dog is passing of cancer and we want to build her one last snow bank to roll in… I am hoping for about 10-20 gallons of ice I think but am thankful for anything we can get. Saying goodbye to her monday around noon so willing to pay and pickup monday morning… Maggie and both of us thank you deeply for reading this.'”

Maggie had been a loved and quite hardy pooch throughout her life. She loved the outdoors and often went on adventures with her family and happily cavorted with her canine pals. When diagnosed with terminal cancer, Maggie’s doting family reached out on Facebook and to the Salt Lake County Ice Center asking if they would supply a mound of shaved ice for Maggie to enjoy one last time.

The Salt Lake City Ice Center was happy to help to grant Maggie’s final wish. They shaved extra ice, loaded it into bins and buckets, and the owner took the snow home to the family’s backyard where Maggie enjoyed the experience one last time with her doting family present.

The center marked it with a special sign “Maggie’s Snow.”

And when Monday arrived, the family had mimosas, and Maggie had her favorite treats.

“Sending our love and condolences to Maggie’s family. We appreciate the unique privilege of providing her a little heaven on earth.”

Rest in peace sweet Maggie – hoping there’s plenty of snow in Heaven.
