Earlier this week, a determined stray dog was apprehended by the authorities after repeatedly “breaking in” to a Dollar General store in North Carolina to steal a stuffed, purple unicorn. Duplin County Animal Services posted a photo of the adorable thief on Facebook, explaining:
This is what happens when you break into the dollar general consistently to steal the purple unicorn that you layed (sic) claim to but then get animal control called to lock you up for your b & e and larceny but the officer purchases your item for you and brings it in with you.
As reported by the Miami Herald, Animal Control Officer Samantha Lane was called out to retrieve the dog after the store was forced to lock their door to keep him out. When ACO Lane arrived, the dog was standing outside of the store waiting – she purchased the coveted stuffie and then the stray pup willingly jumped into her vehicle.
The photo, and unique story, have led many people to inquire about adopting the pup, but he is not available for adoption yet because his stray hold time isn’t up yet. Shelter staff believes that the dog may have an owner somewhere because he is well-trained and obedient.
