Are you worried that your cat or dog might get infected with Covid-19? If so, news out of Russia may intrigue you. According to MSN News, scientists in Russia have developed the first Covid-19 vaccine for pets and livestock.

Researchers are hopeful that a vaccine for animals will help prevent Covid-19 mutations which could impact humans down the road. The vaccine, known as Carnivac-Cov, has been tested since October. Results show that it generates antibodies in a wide range of animals, from foxes and mink, to cats and dogs.

In a statement, Konstantin Savenkov, deputy head of regulator Rosselkhoznadzor, said:

“The results of the trials allow us to conclude that the vaccine is safe and highly immunogenic as all the vaccinated animals developed antibodies to coronavirus.”
