A severely injured dog is receiving round-the-clock love and care after someone set him on fire Decatur, Georgia. On December 8, the Dekalb County Police Department shared details of the horrific crime, along with a plea for help to solve the case:

WE NEED YOUR HELP FINDING WHO SET A DOG ON FIRE! On December 5, a large male Labradoodle was found engulfed in flames between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Lindsey Drive in Decatur. The tan & cream dog was running on the road before witnesses put out the fire. The dog survived but is in critical condition.

The dog, dubbed Will, has been taken in by the Dog Days Rescue organization who updated Facebook followers on Dec. 8:

He’s got a good bit of swelling, which isn’t terribly surprising, and his wounds have been doing a LOT of seeping. He’s being cleaned and flipped from one side to the other every 4 hours. We’ve had some tail wagging! It has to be painful but he is showing his gratitude to the staff caring for him ❤ . Today he’ll undergo his first debriding. Even with all of the pain killers it will likely still be quite painful. He may need to be sedated for the procedure. Please keep him in your thoughts this morning as he undergoes that.

On Thursday, the rescue agency said:

There isn’t much to update today, which is good! We are praying that there aren’t any surprise complications. As you can see by his sleepy face, the pain management seems to be doing its job well!
