Dog, found swimming in bay, had been missing for more than two weeks

A dog who was lost for more than two weeks was found swimming in Barnegat Bay. On Tuesday morning, the New Jersey State Police posted an image of the dog, and recounted how he was rescued, writing:

Earlier this morning, Troopers Ryan Koehler and Vincent Ferdinandi, of Point Pleasant Station, located a Golden Retriever that was reported missing out of Brick, N.J. since June 6.

Describing the initial call that led to the dog’s rescue:

Troopers were preparing for their shift when they were dispatched to the report of a dog swimming in Barnegat Bay. Troopers Koehler and Ferdinandi responded in a vessel and located Chunk, who was swimming in the area of the Mantoloking Bridge, and were able to bring him safely to shore.

According to the authorities, Chunk was “ecstatic” to be reunited with his owners.
