On Thursday, a Florida-based rescue group announced that an emergency rescue was underway for a cat who was found slowly starving to death inside of a home where her owner had died. The Good Karma Pet Rescue Group of South Florida writes:

We were contacted by Sunrise PD this morning to help with this poor baby who was found with their deceased owner. The responding officers said the owner appears to have been deceased for a while 🥺

The cat has been named Sunrise, and is fighting for life. The group writes:

We named the kitty Sunrise, who is currently being rushed to the vet. Hopefully we can help this poor baby! Can you imagine being shut in your home with your beloved owner having passed away, slowly starving to death? 😭💔

Of course I hope Sunrise heals and is rehomed into a loving furever family where she will be treated as a beloved family member.

There is another level to this tragedy. Sunrise’s human had no one who cared enough about them to check on their health and safety……. There are so many people like Sunrise’s human living alone: estranged from family and friends, no living relatives or friends…….. it’s absolutely heartbreaking……. IMHO we all should learn from this tragedy and start caring more about our neighbors.

Sadly, per Facebook, Sunrise passed away @ the veterinary clinic.
