The director of a senior center in Tewksbury, Maryland, is facing animal cruelty charges after an investigation determined that she was responsible for the death of two dogs and neglect of a puppy. According to multiple sources, 33-year-old Nicole Hutcheon was charged after an investigation revealed that two German shepherds had died while in her care, and another German shepherd pup was found to be underweight.
According to a release from the district attorney, Hutcheon had been fostering dogs for an area animal rescue who became concerned when she failed to provide updates about one of the dogs in her care. Investigators discovered that the dog had died of starvation. Investigators also learned that a German shepherd adopted by Hutcheon had also died and she attempted to hide the dog’s remains.
Hutcheon is facing three counts of animal cruelty and one count of witness intimidation; Judge Ellen Caulo released her on personal recognizance and ordered her not to adopt any new animals. She is due back in court on June 23.
