A puppy suffered a slow and painful death after being abandoned in a crate that was left inside of an apartment vacated by two men who moved and did not inform management. The Labrador retriever mix puppy, just 12 to 16 weeks of age, slowly starved to death after Demareo Jones and Sha’Ron Rogers abandoned him.
As reported by ABC 11 News, by the time the puppy was discovered, he weighed just seven pounds. Tragically, a veterinarian believes that the pup passed away just 18 to 48 hours before someone finally knew that he had been abandoned inside of the apartment.
The Spring Lake Police Department has stated that both men were aware that the puppy was inside of the apartment, and they both claimed to be “too busy” to provide the pup with care or even check on him.
Jones, a Fort Bragg soldier, was arrested on February 3 and he is facing charges of killing an animal via starvation and abandoning an animal. The authorities are still looking for Rogers.
