Dog orphaned after owner died from Covid – now she may be put down

A middle-aged dog in Miami, Florida, was orphaned when her owner died from Covid-19.  After no family members stepped up to offer her a home, she found herself at the Miami-Dade Animal Services facility where she was put into quarantine to ensure that she did not have the deadly virus.

Now, her quarantine has ended but she is at risk of being put down anyway. On Wednesday, an advocate posted a plea to social media, writing:

Linda was washed and disinfected by ASD staff and put into a 14-day quarantine away from other pets in an abundance of caution. She has completed her quarantine period with no symptoms of COVID-19 and she poses no risk of the virus spreading to people or other animals. However, due to her behavioral concerns, Linda needs to be urgently transferred out of the shelter and into a home environment where she can receive personalized attention. Please help save Linda and give her the love and care she deserves after losing the only home she’s known, under terribly tragic circumstances and through no fault of her own.
