A 23-month-old toddler from Arkansas died on Saturday night after he ran into his burning home to save his puppy while his parents desperately tried to extinguish the fire and call for help. Loki Nicholi Mason became trapped in the blaze and wasn’t able to save his puppy or his own life.
According to the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, the toddler’s parents were not inside of the home when the fire started, and as they chaotically rushed to extinguish the fire, they lost track of Loki. He had run back into the burning house; firefighters later discovered his body.
The child’s parents, Kurtis and Caitlin Sharp lost everything including their child. The cause of the fire is believed to have been electrical – an investigation is ongoing as per the Gentry Fire Department.
On Facebook his father posted a photo of his beautiful son with the following heart wrenching words:
“Fly high baby boy u are extremely missed and loved. We know ur home and it kills us to see u have to go so soon. But mommy and daddy and all ur siblings and family lover u dearly.”
