Update 6/14/19: Fox Carolina has reported that the baby miniature horse was discovered deceased beneath a hay bale which had fallen in the barn.

On June 13, devastating news was released about a South Carolina family’s missing two-month-old miniature horse, Pikachu. According to Net Posse, an organization that helps find lost or stolen horses, the missing filly has been found dead.

No other information surrounding the death has been released. The post from Net Posse reads:

We have received sad news this morning. Pikachu was found last night. Unfortunately, it was not the news we wanted to hear. She was found deceased. RIP little one.

At the request of Pikachu’s family, please respect their privacy and wishes at this time. No further details will be provided.

We appreciate everyone’s help in searching, spreading the word and following up on leads. Words can’t express how thankful Pikachu’s owner is in all the help from the community and our followers.

On the agency’s Facebook page, the quest for answers was addressed:

Please note: We realize everyone is wanting information and answers. Please respect the wishes of the family and understand that they are having a very difficult time. They are grieving. They do appreciate all of the help that was provided and the words of sympathy. For now, please do not pass judgment against Pikachu’s family. We ask that everyone be respectful to their wishes!

Pikachu seemingly vanished into thin air between the night of June 5 and the morning of June 6. There was speculation that she had been stolen from her owner’s farm in Fountain Inn and a sizable reward was offered for her safe return.

Net Posse has stated that the filly’s death is not criminal.

Rest in peace Pikachu.

How do they know it was NOT criminal?

Run and play with the other little angel horses in heaven, dearest little one!

If Not Criminal It was more like a Lack of Proper and Safe environment for such a tiny animal just to be out in the open pasture . It is my feelings that the mother and colt should have been in an enclosure “together and without Other Equine mixed in with the tiny little and the mare”.. Maybe just plain ignorance as to how to care and keep this little in a safe and healthy environment until it was better acclimated and had a few weeks in a safer place.

I am so sorry for Pikachu’s family (equine & human)…….. One is never prepared for a tragic loss…..
Precious little treasure Pikachu, I know you are in Heaven. Please look for Sailor (a bay gelding) who will show you the best grazing and most scenic trails.

As Stated In Previous Post: A Safe Environment and being alert to the perils around that could be detrimental to a ‘small , helpless, newborn” as in this case !! It took how many days to find this OUT!!! HUM!!

OMG: a HUGE fail by her humans……. bales of hay and barrels of feed should NOT be kept in or near the animals’ stalls or paddocks (a separate storage area, ONLY accessible to the humans, is the best, “cleanest”, and safest way to store feed supplies)…….
RIP Pikachu, so sorry you were failed by your humans…..
