A family in Fountain Inn (Laurens County), South Carolina, is desperate for answers after their two-month-old miniature horse seemingly vanished into thin air. The filly, Pikachu, was last seen at her 11 p.m. feeding on June 5 (Tuesday). By morning, she was nowhere to be found.

Miniature horse vanished

Pikachu’s owner, Kate Fowler Nichols tells WYFF News, “Her mother and the rest of the herd is very distressed. There is simply no sign of her anywhere. No sign of predators. Nothing.” On June 6, Nichols utilized social media to ask the public for help:

MISSING – FOUNTAIN INN, SC. URGENT 6-6-19. This tiny two-month-old miniature Filly is missing from my farm in Fountain Inn. Please share, please call or text 864-477-9284 if you have seen her. She probably only weighs 40 lb. She still needs to be drinking milk, please help me find her.

Net Posse, an organization that helps find lost or stolen horses, has joined the search. The posting created on Pikachu’s behalf can be found here.

There has been speculation that Pikachu may have been stolen – her owner is hopeful that a reward will prompt someone to come forward with information. On Sunday morning, Nichols wrote:

SUNDAY, JUNE 9, 2019 PIKACHU IS STILL MISSING, WE STILL NEED TO GET THE WORD OUT – SHE IS OUT THERE! PLEASE HELP US. TODAY FROM 2-4PM AT HERITAGE PARK IN SIMPSONVILLE NEAR THE CORPORATE SHELTER, pick up a packet of fliers and help us post them in your area. Pikachu was stolen and someone knows where she is. THERE IS A REWARD FOR HER RETURN ALIVE AND SAFE. WE REALLY NEED YOUR HELP TO FIND HER. IT IS A MATTER OF TIME – SHE IS IN DANGER. IT ONLY TAKES ONE FLIER, but it takes MANY to place the one! CONTACT 864-477-9284 for more information.

  1. There aren’t enough cameras in the world to protect our innocent defenseless animals!

Many prayers that this baby is found and returned FAST! If not already offered,
    I would offer a reward!

  2. Well first off the Mom and her foal Needed to Be enclosed for Christ Sake for their safety.. if they were in a pasture. there are predators , Not Just the human kind EITHER !!! Sounds like there could have been a little more safety issues in this case!!

    • I agree with you. We never leave our horses alone in a pasture. There ARE predators that will kill a horse so quickly it’s shocking (& I am NOT talking about humans)…….
snakes, mountain lions, packs of coyotes, feral dogs, eagles all can and do kill horses……..
One MUST protect animal family members, just as one would protect their young children……
