A Florida woman is accused of beating her injured dog to death with a crowbar because she believed that it would be too “traumatizing” to take her pet to the vet. As reported by Local 10 News, 55-year-old Tammy Ewing admitted to the authorities that she first attempted to kill her dog with Tylenol PM and when that failed, she resorted to beating the dog to death with a crowbar.

Why was the woman trying to kill her dog?

Ewing’s dog, Sophie, had a torn ACL – Ewing believed that taking the dog to a veterinarian would be too traumatic so she opted to kill her pet at home. The incident took place at Ewing’s home in Englewood in January.

Ewing’s initial attempt to kill Sophie with drugs failed – she she found out that her dog was still alive the next morning, she resorted to killing Sophie with the crowbar. According to ABC 7 News, Ewing used Google to find a way to kill her dog at home.

The local animal control affidavit states:

“It is the opinion of this department that an act of intentional animal cruelty was committed by Tammy Ewing. Ms. Ewing failed to provide the medical attention the dog required for her torn ACL and after she overdosed the dog, instead of opting to take the dog to a veterinarian at that point she bludgeoned the dog to death in her backyard.”

A necropsy on the dog’s body revealed that she had been beaten to death. Ewing was arrested on Wednesday by a Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office deputy.

Put this evil, vile excuse of a woman’s name on a National Registry so she may NEVER own, adopt, purchase or live in the same home as a pet. PLEASE………….or lock her sorry butt up for eternity!

I’ll feel better when the authorities do something. But right about now that scumbag maggot should just be taken out back, put up against the wall and shot through the heart. I’m sorry I’ve got no patience for this nonsense and I’ve got no patience with our legal system anymore.

Someone needs to take that crowbar and beat that b***h to death!!

My dog had ACL surgery. It did NOT traumatize her too much. In fact, she did fine, as did my next door neighbors’ dog who managed to have ACL surgery at the same time mine did. The difference was that their dog was larger, so it was more complex, and it was on BOTH back legs within the same week, and mine had it on only one.

Beating her dog to death, the dog who should have been able to trust her and undoubtedly loved her, is one of the most despicable and disgusting things that POS could have done. She DESERVES to have someone take that crowbar to her, slowly, so that she knows EXACTLY what she did to her innocent pet.

This is why I prefer pets to most people. Evil, evil b****,

WTF is wrong with people??? It would never cross my mind to do something like this…… I just don’t understand why people would find harming an innocent creature
a “better alternative” than a veterinary clinic??? ……..This poor precious treasure…….. her life mattered….. I am sick inside…….

RIP precious treasure……. Your life was stolen from you….. You didn’t deserve to be murdered…… please look for MacKitty in Heaven….. you will be welcome to join his group of snuggle buddies…….. so sorry that you were failed so horribly by humans……..

Lock this useless POS up and lose the keys……. She should only leave prison in a pine box……..

That POS who murdered you will burn in Hell forever for her cruelty……. let’s hope she gets there ASAP after suffering a terrible death in pain, alone, afraid and unloved…….

it’s just amazing to me just how many mentally unbalanced people there are in this world. RIP Sophie your life did matter!

  8. Barkley's Mom says:

Taking the dog to the vet would be “traumatic” for who? Her or the dog? I suppose beating the dog with a crowbar is much less traumatic for all concerned. Sick woman! Please get this Psycho off the streets and away from society.

  9. Adrienne says:

Oh please, give us all a chance to use a crowbar on her until she begs for mercy, then continue. People are beyond insane and this scum is right up there. You can’t afford treatment, then relinquish the dog, but what she did needs to be charged with the highest crime you can for killing her own dog. Never let her out of jail and hope her life is so miserable she does herself in.

This ratty old hag looks like something one of my cats threw up – what she did to an innocent dog because she was too damn cheap to go to a vet is reason enough to hogtie this vile hunk of shit up, throw her in a compactor, and dump her putrid ass in a landfill with the rest of the trash. Don’t believe for one minute she was worried about traumatizing this poor dog, she just wanted it dead – O man, she is another one of the useless wastes of space that has no right to breathe.
