Nine dogs, believed to be “breeder” dogs, were stuffed into a small wire cage and abandoned in an alley in St. Petersburg, Florida. The caged dogs were found by a good Samaritan on Monday night – all of the abandoned dogs are now in the care of the non-profit agency, Pawlicious Poochie Pet Rescue.
The rescue group posted a video on its Facebook page after the dogs arrived, writing:
911!! Wow! 9 Chihuahua’s found smashed in crate dumped in alley!
As reported by ABC Action News, the dogs are in poor condition – and some may be pregnant. In the video provided by the rescue group, the extent of neglect that the abandoned dogs endured is evident. One dog has lost an eye, nails are so long that they curl around, the dogs are covered in feces, fleas and urine – some had their ears torn.
The rescue group is pleading for help for the veterinary care that these nine dogs will need – everything from grooming and vaccinations to treatment for infections. The St. Petersburg police are investigating this situation as a case of animal cruelty.

Did you know that if you want to get updates from a Facebook page, you have to do more than just “like” it? To get recent postings in your Facebook feed, you must also hover your mouse over the word “following” and then click “see first” from the drop-down menu. You may want to check back with your favorite pages on occasion because Facebook often changes your settings, no longer having your favorites among those to “see first.”
