Police in Jamestown, New York, have made an arrest in a dog hanging case. According to WGRZ News, the dog’s owner, identified as 47-year-old Robert Overton, turned himself into the authorities on Thursday afternoon.
Overton was interviewed about the animal cruelty case – he refers to himself as a longtime animal lover and claims that he loved his dog, but had to kill her because she displayed aggression towards his family on multiple occasions. Overton told the reporter that he did what he had to do to keep his family safe from harm. Overton also claims that the dog was sick – possibly with parvo.
Overton is facing a felony count of Aggravated Cruelty to Animals for killing the pit bull. The dog’s body was found hanging from a tree on Monday – prior to the arrest, the authorities had reached out to the public for tips in the cruelty case.

Did you know that if you want to get updates from a Facebook page, you have to do more than just “like” it? To get recent postings in your Facebook feed, you must also hover your mouse over the word “following” and then click “see first” from the drop-down menu. You may want to check back with your favorite pages on occasion because Facebook often changes your settings, no longer having your favorites among those to “see first.”
