At the Alachua County Animal Resources, there was a celebration to be had on Wednesday. A family’s dog had been missing for five years, and guess what? Yep, he was found and reunited with his family because of a tiny, fingernail-sized piece of silicon packed with information.
Here’s Whiskey; this pooch had been gone from home, and his family had lost hope of ever finding him. Two weeks ago, however Whiskey was brought into the shelter as a stray, but he wasn’t really a stray. He had a home, but that was long ago and far away.
Fortunately, Whiskey had a microchip, and a quick scan gave the shelter all the information they needed. How Whiskey wound up more than 2,000 miles away from his home remains a mystery, but until the pooch can learn to talk or draw a map, everyone is ecstatic he has been reunited with his family.
His family didn’t hesitate. They drove for three days to get to the shelter, and on February 25,they were finally reunited.
Whiskey’s story is a powerful reminder that microchips work. They bring pets home, no matter the distance or time.
Please make sure to microchip your pets. WE LOVE HAPPY ENDINGS!
