Gracious act from rescue organization reunites senior dog post surgery with owner

At the Wisconsin Humane Society in Milwaukee, a senior fluff pup was reunited with her owner this week after supporters and staff of the rescue organization worked together to bring about another happy ending.

Just two weeks ago, the pooch named Prissy got her leg caught in a closing door. Her family knew the injury was serious and brought her to an emergency veterinarian hospital where the attending veterinarian told her Prissy’s leg was broken, and the dog would need complicated and expensive surgery to repair.

The family, who loved their dog, did not have the money, and desperately called around to other clinics and veterinarian specialists asking for help. The costs involved for Prissy’s medical needs made it impossible. And with no other choice, they decided to surrender their dog to the Wisconsin Humane Society.

The morning Prissy arrived, she received the needed surgery which involved amputation. And then it was time for her to recover.

Two weeks later, Prissy was given the green light. She was ready to be released.

Now, here comes the truly heartwarming update all of us love to read. The staff at WHS called Prissy’s mom, and asked her if she was interested in being reunited with her pup?

And here’s how the reunion went:

It was pure elation from then on. The fearful trembles we’d seen in the shelter were nowhere to be found once Prissy spotted her mom — the pup was all wiggles and wags, leaping into the arms she’d been missing so much. These joyful reunions will never get old to us, and we’re so grateful to our supporters who make them possible!

Emergencies happen, and sometimes the best decision is to help and then return the dog to the original owner. (especially senior pups).

None of us expect expensive medical emergencies for our dogs, but life happens, and it is because there are so many great people out here willing to donate to those who cannot speak, that happy endings like this one for Prissy and her mom could happen.

Welcome home Prissy.
