In a heroic rescue caught on video on Wednesday, March 11 , a man jumped into an icy pond in Central Park to rescue a dog that had fallen through the ice.
According to an eyewitness, Brandon Eck, who had been in Central Park in New York City, a desperate dog’s howl could be heard resonating through the quiet chatter of people enjoying the afternoon sun while eating lunch. The desperate cry sounded like a wolf or possibly a coyote Eck thought.

Nearby, a crowd had already assembled, and everyone was staring at a white dog paddling to stay afloat in the middle of the pond desperately trying to get back onto the nearby ice.
Moments later, a Good Samaritan sprung into action. The man plunged into the pond and swam out to help the dog. He was able to lift the dog’s rear end out of the water and up onto the solid ice.

As the dog reached the edge of the pond, another bystander threw out a red life preserver to help pull the dog to safety.
As the dog reached the safety of the land, his owner was there and happily able to be reunited.
The Good Samaritan was no doubt a hero.
Angels definitely walk among us.
