At the Milford Police Department in Milford, Michigan, officers with the biggest hearts and of course, our deepest appreciation, adopted an abandoned dog found on a random porch with no tags and who had never been microchipped.
It had been at midnight on February 1, when officers had been called about a dog wandering on the south end of the township. Temperatures had been below zero, and conditions were certainly not conducive to any human or pet left outdoors for any period of time.

Officers searched the entire area for the dog’s owner, but to no avail. And so the officers took him to the station to warm up, and while there, the sweet dog was already melting hearts with his mild-mannered personality.

Unfortunately, the postings on social media didn’t find his owner, so the dog was turned over to animal control.
After two weeks at the shelter and hoping someone would claim him, no one stepped forward. Not wanting to take a chance with an unknown future, it was decided that this deserving pooch should be adopted.

Now, “Lil’ Craig” is a member of the Milford Police Department. He has been recovering from surgery, but is reported doing well. His veterinarian says he’s about nine-years-old, is missing a few teeth and doesn’t hear all that well. One of his ears refuses to stand up, but this old guy is enjoying his best life now.
Lil’ Craig brings smiles and some needed stress relief to the staff. He loves to be around people and although he moves at a slower pace, it’s fine – maybe we all need to slow down and smell the roses? He will be living at the station and already has the run of the place.

Special thanks to Oakland County Animal Control, Premier Pet Supply Milford, and Dr. Carrie Tokar of VCS Milford for helping us make this happen.
We’ll keep you posted on his life.
