At West Virginia’s Humane Society of Parkersburg, there was no holding back the excitement of an adorable puppy named Pompeii being reunited with her family after having been lost for months. There was no mistaking that heartwarming butt wiggle and the endless zoomies when she recognized the people most important in her life.

Six-month-old Pompeii had arrived at the shelter in June after she had been picked up as a stray. Shelter life made her nervous and frightened; adopters would pass by her kennel, and it didn’t seem promising she would find a new home soon.
And then the surprise came! A family spotted her photos and were convinced this was their missing puppy who had been gone since May. The family traveled to the shelter, and the moment Pompeii spotted them and vice-versa, there was no doubt they were family.
Her real name is Bitty, and as described by the staff and volunteers at the Humane Society of Parkersburg, the reunion brought everyone watching to happy tears.
