A Detroit-area dog named Aries is making headlines for her incredible sense of direction and loyalty. After a car accident left her spooked, Aries, a three-year-old pit bull mix, bolted from the vehicle and embarked on a remarkable journey.

The incident occurred near Rochester Road in Clawson earlier in February. According to Aries’ owner, Melissa Fickel, the car windows were down because Aries enjoys feeling the breeze. The sudden impact of the crash startled Aries, who disappeared through the window in a flash.

Fickel, understandably worried, feared the worst. However, Aries had other plans. Instead of running aimlessly, she made a beeline for a familiar place – her daycare, Houndstown Metro Detroit, located over a mile away.

According to USA Today, the staff was really scared when the dog showed up outside the front door, “but as soon as I walked up front and saw the dog, I knew exactly who it was,” stated Travis Ogden, the owner of Houndstown stated in a recent interview.

Surveillance footage captured Aries’ determined arrival at the daycare. She can be seen jumping excitedly at the door, seemingly pleading for entry. Thankfully, the daycare staff recognized Aries and quickly brought her inside.

Ogden, aware of Aries’ frequent visits, immediately contacted Fickel. She always knew Aries was a smart dog, but never knew she was that smart as to know exactly where to go, even though she must have been so frightened.

He called me and said ‘she’s here,'” Fickel recalled, “and I literally sank to the ground.” The reunion between Fickel and Aries was undoubtedly filled with relief and wagging tails.
