In a heartwarming story of loyalty and devotion, a brave German Shepherd named Alpha has captured the hearts of people around the world. For two days, Alpha stood guard over the bodies of his owner and friend, who had tragically passed away in the snow-covered mountains of Himachal Pradesh, India last week.

According to the Times of India, the ordeal began when Alpha’s owner, a young man named Nitin, and his friend embarked on a driving and hiking expedition in the treacherous, although popular Himalayas. However, disaster struck, and the two men succumbed to the harsh elements. The two men had fallen into a ravine, and had already abandoned their vehicle and food; they apparently died from the extreme cold conditions and their injuries

With no help in sight, Alpha, a faithful companion, refused to abandon his fallen friends, and even though he was also injured still remained both loyal and vigilant.

For 48 agonizing hours, Alpha braved the biting cold and howling winds, standing guard over their bodies. He huddled close to them for warmth, repeatedly whined in distress, and even tried to nudge them awake. His unwavering loyalty and love were a beacon of hope in the face of tragedy.

We had to trudge to the hills at a height of more than 9,000 feet and went on slopes with a gradient of 70-80 degrees. We  fought against the odds of hostile weather…

Times of India quote

After the grueling search, the rescuers stumbled upon the heartbreaking scene; Alpha, exhausted but determined, standing guard over his companions.

The rescue team was deeply moved by Alpha’s devotion. They carefully retrieved the bodies and transported Alpha to safety. News of Alpha’s heroism spread like wildfire, capturing the attention of animal lovers and media outlets worldwide.

Alpha’s story is a testament to the incredible bond between humans and animals. His unwavering loyalty and love in the face of unimaginable hardship serve as an inspiration to us all. Surely, humans don’t deserve dogs, but we try.

There have not been any updates on Alpha, and we all hope he makes a full recovery.
