A pretty young cat, named Lilo, was found abandoned with a note attached around her neck saying the owner was very sorry she could no longer provide for her cat, and hoped that by leaving instructions about the cat’s life would help to find her a home where someone “would love her more.” One-year-old Lilo was rescued by the staff at RSPCA Manchester and Salford Branch.

My name is Lilo and I am one. My mummy is sorry and she loves me very much but she can’t keep me anymore.

The note also stated Lilo loves to cuddle and has always been an indoor cat.

I love treats and soft blankets to make biscuits on. I am an indoor cat too. I love to play and am very independent, but I do love a snuggle and to sleep on the end of the bed at night.

And then the note adds the most tearful part.

I’m a good girl and mummy hopes someone will love me more. Please take care of me.

And even a “PS” that makes this entire story even sadder.

I have been with my mummy since birth so I’m not used to other people.

The RSPCA shared the poignant note on social media, and helped explain how the note had been very helpful learning about Lilo and what kind of care she needed as they searched for a foster home. When Lilo entered the shelter, she had been very shy and frightened, but the note explained why and was very helpful finding the right emotional and physical situation to help Lilo adjust.

She soon settled and forged a strong relationship with her foster mom. This enabled us to introduce her to new people and find Lilo the purrfect match of an adopter for her.

Today we are taking Lilo to her new, furever home to an very excited adopter. We want to say a special thank you to her foster mom (she’s American!) and her adopted mum, for without them both we could not have made this happen. A great success based on team work

And as time went by, Lilo began to relax and then the big day came – Lilo found her new home and the rescue community has another “purrfect” ending.
