On Friday, a California family was quite surprised after realizing their dog had chased off a mountain lion! The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office have been trying to locate the wild animal so they can relocate it out of the residential neighborhood.

Sandy Ali had been home in Morada when one of her friends called her attention to the “dogs” outside playing and chasing each other. When Sandy told her neighbor that she only had one dog, she looked out at the backyard and spotted a mountain lion.

As Sandy went outside to investigate, the mountain lion leaped into a tree where it stayed for several hours. A video shows the magnificent wild cat and the dog chasing each other around the yard. Sandy called 911 for help. The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office responded and tried to tranquilize the lion, but he had already fled.

Authorities recommend residents remain vigilant and keep their pets supervised at all times.

our deputies and animal services worked will into the morning hours trying to safely trap the mountain lion that was spotted in a residential backyard on La Loma Street near Los Cerritos. Unfortunately efforts were unsuccessful.

Let’s hope he ran back to the wilds and will live his life without having to have human intervention.
