Let’s admit it – TikTok has some pretty funny content, and one short clip of a dog who had to be sedated during a routine veterinarian visit has the internet cracking up.

First check out the video, and then we can go on…

And of course the background music adds to our amusement!
“Charles chose violence at the vet and got sedated.”

Mollie Tinnin’s short video, with user name @chronicallyconnected, garnered more than 3.2 million views on her dog’s drowsy video. And if you’re wondering why Charles had to be sedated – well according to his mom the dog needed a few shots, some blood work and a nail trim.

So we’re sure Charles isn’t the only dog who has stressed out when faced with a visit to the vet. There are a few good tips and tricks to try. First, try to build up your pet’s tolerance slowly. You can also try calming collars, pressure wraps, herbal supplements and other anxiety aids.

As in Charles’ case, medication was the only option. We certainly don’t want the dog hurting others or hurting himself at the veterinarian office. Overt anxiety also makes it difficult to examine him. It also makes sense to remember that dogs are very sensitive to our reactions and body language. If a pet senses you’re stressed, all that anxiety could easily travel down the leash to him.

And now let’s return to Charles for another moment and hopefully a smile. Some commenting on the video didn’t think it was amusing, but a vet tech did intervene and explain that sometimes the vet has to use a sedative to reduce the dog’s stress as well as the safety of the staff.

Most of the comments, however were kind and above all very amusing:

Charles fought the vet and the vet won.

Charles definitely was NOT in charge.

Yes, Charles was a bit woozy on the way home, but his veterinarian visit is over, and all is well for this adorable pooch and his mom.

  1. I have done vet tech work with dogs and horses. One time the Vet had to heavily sedate a large mare who didn’t want to have her teeth floated. It was amazing to see her staggering around her paddock. Fortunately both the Vet and I were able to support her into a “workable” position. When she recovered from her sedation, she was absolutely fine.

Sometimes sedation is best for everyone….. I can totally understand why Charles was better off with the sedative.
